North India Spiritual & Wildlife Adventure: A 6-Day Road Journey

6-day North India road trip covering Haridwar, Rishikesh, Jim Corbett, Agra, Jhalana and Ranthambore with spiritual sites, Taj Mahal and wildlife safaris.

Day-by-Day Travel Plan

Some trips try to do too much and end up doing nothing well. This one doesn't. In six days, Garhwal Himalayan Expedition takes you from the ghats of Haridwar to the tiger trails of Ranthambore, with the Taj Mahal and a couple of leopard sightings thrown in for good measure. It's spirituality, heritage and wildlife stitched into one road trip, without feeling rushed.

Route At A Glance

Delhi to Haridwar, Rishikesh, Jim Corbett, back to Delhi, then Agra, Jhalana, Ranthambore and finally Delhi again.

Day 1: Delhi To Haridwar

Approx. 230 km, 5 to 6 hours

Our representative picks you up from Delhi airport, the railway station or your hotel, and from there it's a scenic drive to Haridwar.

  • Har Ki Pauri Ghat
  • Ganga Aarti ceremony in the evening – honestly, one of the more moving experiences on this whole trip
  • Mansa Devi Temple, ropeway optional
  • Bharat Mata Mandir
  • Local market for an evening stroll

Overnight in Haridwar.

Day 2: Haridwar To Rishikesh To Jim Corbett

Approx. 180 km

Breakfast, then off to Rishikesh, better known as the yoga capital of the world.

  • Laxman Jhula
  • Ram Jhula
  • Parmarth Niketan
  • Triveni Ghat
  • Views along the Ganga that are worth slowing down for

From here, continue on to Jim Corbett National Park. Evenings at the resort are yours to spend however you like:

  • Nature walk
  • Resort leisure time
  • Bonfire, seasonal

Overnight in Jim Corbett.

Day 3: Jim Corbett Safari Then Back To Delhi

Approx. 260 km, 6 hours

An early morning jeep safari kicks off the day inside Corbett, India's oldest national park.

  • Bengal tiger
  • Asian elephant
  • Various deer species
  • Wild boar
  • Crocodiles
  • A wide variety of birdlife

Return to the resort for breakfast, then it's back on the road to Delhi.

Overnight in Delhi.

Day 4: Delhi To Agra To Jhalana

Approx. 300 km, 7 hours

The Yamuna Expressway gets you to Agra fairly quickly, and once there, the big one is waiting.

  • Taj Mahal
  • Agra Fort
  • Mehtab Bagh, optional, but worth it if you want a different angle on the Taj

From Agra, continue toward Jaipur and check in near the Jhalana Leopard Reserve.

Overnight in Jhalana.

Day 5: Jhalana Safari, Then On To Ranthambore

Approx. 190 km, 4 to 5 hours

Jhalana doesn't get talked about as much as some of Rajasthan's bigger reserves, but the leopard sightings here are consistently good.

  • Leopards
  • Striped hyena
  • Blue bull
  • Jackal
  • Peacock
  • Plenty of opportunity for wildlife photography

Breakfast, then the drive to Ranthambore. Evening is free for:

  • Nature walks
  • Wandering through nearby villages
  • Sunset photography
  • Resort leisure

Overnight in Ranthambore.

Day 6: Ranthambore Safari Then Back To Delhi

Approx. 390 km, 7 to 8 hours

The final morning belongs to Ranthambore, and it's a strong one to end on.

  • Royal Bengal tiger
  • Leopard
  • Sloth bear
  • Sambar deer
  • Marsh crocodile
  • Views of Ranthambore Fort from within the park

After breakfast, check out and begin the drive back to Delhi. On arrival, transfer to the airport, railway station or your hotel, and that's the trip.

Why This Route Works

Six days isn't a lot of time, but this itinerary makes it count. You get the sacred ghats of Haridwar, the calm of Rishikesh, three separate wildlife reserves each with a different flavour of safari, and the Taj Mahal in between, all without any single day feeling overloaded. It's the kind of trip that suits people who want variety but don't want to spend the whole week just getting from place to place.
