8-Day Nepal Spiritual and Himalayan Tour from Gorakhpur

8-day Nepal spiritual and Himalayan tour from Gorakhpur covering Lumbini, Pokhara, Muktinath, Kathmandu, Nagarkot, Janakpur, and Manakamana. Includes private transfers, accommodation, meals, permits, sightseeing, and guided pilgrimage experiences.

Day-by-Day Travel Plan

Buddha's birthplace, a temple beneath 108 sacred spouts, and a cable car ride straight into the hills, this trip covers a strange and wonderful range of ground for just eight days. Garhwal Himalayan Expedition has designed this Nepal spiritual and Himalayan tour starting from Gorakhpur to bring together Buddhist pilgrimage sites, Himalayan viewpoints, and some of Nepal's most sacred Hindu temples into one well-planned journey.

Route covered: Gorakhpur, Lumbini, Pokhara, Muktinath, Kathmandu, Nagarkot, Janakpur, Gorakhpur

Vehicle arrangement: Gorakhpur to Sunauli Border by private Tempo Traveller, then Sunauli through the Nepal tour and back by private Toyota Hiace or Urbania.

Day 1: Gorakhpur to Sunauli to Lumbini

Arrive in Gorakhpur by early afternoon, where your representative meets you before the drive to the Sunauli India-Nepal Border. Once border formalities are cleared, you'll switch vehicles and continue on to Lumbini, revered worldwide as the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Depending on arrival time, cover the Maya Devi Temple, the Sacred Garden, the Ashoka Pillar, and the World Peace Flame, along with a walk through the International Monastic Zone, where monasteries from different Buddhist traditions sit side by side.

Overnight in Lumbini.

Day 2: Lumbini to Pokhara

The drive to Pokhara cuts through Nepal's green countryside, and once you arrive, the afternoon covers Davis Falls, where the water vanishes into an underground gorge, and the nearby Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, an important Shiva shrine. Evenings around Lakeside Pokhara are unhurried: Phewa Lake, small cafés, local shops, and the Himalayas rising in the background.

Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 3: Pokhara to Jomsom to Muktinath

An early start takes you through the dramatic Kali Gandaki Valley, passing Beni, Tatopani, Ghasa, Marpha, and Jomsom along the way, each with its own character and mountain backdrop. On arrival at Ranipauwa, head straight for Muktinath Temple, one of Nepal's most revered pilgrimage sites, where devotees traditionally bathe beneath its 108 sacred water spouts. The nearby Jwala Mai Temple, known for its eternal flame, is worth the extra stop.

Overnight in Muktinath or Ranipauwa.

Day 4: Muktinath Back to Pokhara

The return drive retraces the Kali Gandaki Valley, with mountain views that somehow look just as striking the second time around. Back in Pokhara, visit Bindhyabasini Temple and browse the Tibetan Refugee Market before an optional evening of boating on Phewa Lake, timed well for sunset.

Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 5: Pokhara to Manakamana to Kathmandu

The drive to Kathmandu follows the scenic Trishuli River, with a stop at Manakamana Temple, perched dramatically in the hills and reached by the well-known Manakamana Cable Car. Once in Kathmandu, depending on timing, visit Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa, followed by free time around the busy lanes of Thamel Market.

Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 6: Kathmandu to Bhaktapur to Nagarkot

Spend the morning covering Kathmandu's spiritual landmarks, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanilkantha Temple, and Doleshwor Mahadev Temple, before continuing to Boudhanath Stupa. From there, Bhaktapur Durbar Square offers a completely different atmosphere, traditional Newari architecture, old courtyards, and streets that feel frozen somewhere in the past. By evening, drive up to Nagarkot, known for panoramic Himalayan views and, weather permitting, a genuinely striking mountain sunset.

Overnight in Nagarkot.

Day 7: Nagarkot to Janakpur

An early breakfast kicks off the long drive toward Janakpur, one of Nepal's most significant Hindu pilgrimage sites and traditionally linked to Goddess Sita. The magnificent Janaki Mandir and the nearby Vivah Mandap, associated with the divine wedding of Ram and Sita, are the day's main stops.

Overnight in Janakpur.

Day 8: Janakpur to Sunauli to Gorakhpur

An early departure around 5:00 AM begins the return journey to the Sunauli Border, with breakfast at a highway restaurant along the way. After completing exit formalities and crossing back into India, the drive continues to Gorakhpur. If time allows, a stop at Gorakhnath Temple for darshan rounds off the trip before your transfer to Gorakhpur Airport or the railway station.

The tour ends here, with eight days of temples, mountains, and pilgrimage sites behind you.
